This Agreement is a contract between you (the individual or organisation using the software) and Dạ Trư (the “Author”) for GenZip, including the program, installers, updates, icons and accompanying documentation (the “Software”). By installing, copying or using the Software, or by clicking “Agree”, you accept this entire Agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.
The Vietnamese version of this Agreement is the original; this English version is provided for reference only.
1. License grant
1.1. The Author grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, free-of-charge right to install and use the Software on any number of devices, for personal and commercial purposes.
1.2. You may copy and share the unmodified installer of the Software, provided that you charge no fee; do not modify, repackage or bundle it with other software; and keep this Agreement and all copyright notices intact.
1.3. The Software is licensed, not sold. All rights not expressly granted in this Agreement are reserved by the Author.
2. Restrictions
Except where permitted by law or provided otherwise in section 4, you may not:
a) modify, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, or attempt to obtain its source code; b) sell, rent, lease for a fee or sublicense the Software; c) remove or alter copyright notices, trademarks or this Agreement; d) distribute the Software under another name or misrepresent its origin; e) use the Software for any unlawful activity.
3. Ownership
The Software, the name “GenZip”, its icons and user interface are owned by the Author and protected by intellectual property law. © 2026 Dạ Trư. All rights reserved.
4. Third-party components
4.1. The Software uses third-party components, each governed by its own license as listed in the accompanying THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES file and in the About window. In case of conflict, a component’s own license prevails for that component.
4.2. The 7-Zip engine (file 7z.dll) © Igor Pavlov is distributed under the GNU LGPL 2.1 (with the BSD 3-clause terms and the unRAR restriction). You may replace 7z.dll with a version you have built or modified yourself, and reverse engineer the Software to the extent necessary to debug such a replacement; section 2 does not limit this right. 7-Zip source code is available at https://www.7-zip.org/ and on request from the Author. The unRAR code may not be used to re-create the RAR compression algorithm.
4.3. The user interface is built with Slint under the Slint Royalty-free License.
5. No warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. The entire risk as to the quality and performance of the Software is with you.
6. Data, passwords and archive contents
6.1. Backups. Compressing, extracting, testing or overwriting files may cause data loss or corruption due to software or hardware faults, damaged archives or user actions. You are responsible for backing up your data before using the Software.
6.2. Passwords. The Author does not store, know or have any way to recover archive passwords. A forgotten password means the encrypted data cannot be opened.
6.3. Contents. The Author does not control and is not responsible for the contents of archives you create, open or extract, including malware or content that is unlawful or infringes third-party rights. The Software includes safety measures (such as blocking dangerous paths and marking files as downloaded from the Internet) but is not antivirus software.
7. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE AUTHOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES, DIRECT OR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL (INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE) ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. Because the Software is provided free of charge, the Author’s total liability (if any) shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Software, which is zero. This section does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law.
8. Privacy
The Software does not collect or transmit personal data or usage data. See the accompanying Privacy Policy for details.
9. Updates and support
The Author may release updates, change features or discontinue the Software at any time without notice. The Author has no obligation to provide technical support. An update may include a new version of this Agreement; the Software will then ask for your consent again.
10. Trademarks
WinRAR and RAR are trademarks of win.rar GmbH. 7-Zip is a trademark of Igor Pavlov. Windows and Microsoft Store are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. Other names belong to their respective owners. GenZip is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by these owners.
11. Termination
This Agreement is effective until terminated. Your rights terminate automatically if you breach this Agreement; you must then stop using and uninstall the Software. Sections 3 to 7, 10 and 12 survive termination.
12. Governing law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Disputes shall first be resolved by negotiation; failing that, by a competent court in Vietnam. If any provision is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
